This is the last will and Testament of me James Spensley of Blades in the parish of Grinton in the County of York Yeoman. I give and devise to my dear wife Sarah Spensley the whole of my Copyhold property situated at Blades in the Township of Melbecks in the parish of Grinton aforesaid for her sole use and benefit during the term of her natural life according to the Custom of the Manor of Healaugh in the said County of York Subject to the payment of the usual and accustomed Rent or Rents to the Lord or Lords of the said Manor And also Subject to the paying doing and performing of all fines dues duties and Servfices payable or to be performed in respect thereof but Not to Sell nor Mortgage the same in any way whatsoever And after the death of my dear Wife I give and devise to my Brother John Spensley of Ginglepot near Marske, to my Sister Betty Smith Wife of Joseph Smith of Reeth to my Sister Alice Pedley wife of William Pedley now in America And to my Sister Margaret Whitfield Wife of Thomas Whitfield at turniphouse in the Township of Melbecks to them their heirs and Assigns for ever the whole of my Copyhold Estate aforesaid to be equally divided amongst them share and share alike I also give and devise to my dear Wife All my personal estate and effects whatsoever for her own use and benefit and to be at her own disposal. I do hereby nominate and appoint my dear Wife Sarah Spensley as the Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have Set my hand and Seal this Nineteenth day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three Signed Sealed published and declared by the Testator the said James Spensley as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto Subscribed our names as Witnesses to the due Execution hereof Witnesses
