This is the last Will and Testament of me Ann Atkinson of Gaskins in the Parish of Gilling in the North Riding of the County of York Housekeeper. I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and the expenses of proving this my Will to be in the first place paid by my Executor hereinafter named. I give devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever situate unto and to the use of my daughter or reputed daughter Mary Peacock the wife of Christopher Peacock of Coxhoe in the County of Durham Cordwainer for and during the term of her natural life free from the control and debts of any husband she may have. And from and immediately after her decease I give devise and bequeath the same unto John Rudd otherwise called John Atkinson of Dufton in the County of Westmorland Gentleman. Upon Trust to permit and suffer the said Christopher Peacock if he shall survive his said wife to receive the Rents and profits arising from the same during the term of his natural life. And from and immediately after his decease I give devise and bequeath the same to the child or children if more than one of my said daughter or reputed daughter share and share alike absolutely. But in case there shall be no such child or children of my said daughter Then I give devise and bequeath the same to the said John Rudd otherwise called John Atkinson for and during his life and from and immediately after his decease to the child if only one or the children if more than one of the said John Rudd otherwise called John Atkinson share and share alike absolutely. But in case the said John Rudd otherwise called John Atkinson shall die without leaving ifsue then I give devise and bequeath the same to John Rudd (a blacksmith) son of Anthony Rudd late of Brough in the County of Westmorland Publican absolutely. And I appoint the said John Rudd otherwise called John Atkinson Trustee and Executor of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have to this sheet of paper set my hand this Eleventh day of November one thousand eight hundred and forty eight.
